DACS PRODUCTION SERVER / SUN SERVER
This is a Sun server model 4500 running the Oracle version 9i software package. This server provides the DACS production environment and is clustered with a Sun model 3500 to supply failover support. The server resides on the State of Delaware's telecommunications network where it is afforded a high level of system security and has interfaces through Software AG's EntireX Broker middleware product to the State's mainframe containing the CJIS data and applications, which are shared by not only Corrections, but all Delaware police agencies, all courts in Delaware, the State's Attorney General's Office and the Public Defender's Office. The DACS environment also accesses mugshots created by the State's AFIS (automated fingerprint identification system) and stored in servers maintained by the Delaware Criminal Justice Information System (DELJIS).
DACS Database
This database contains the information that is unique to the Department of Correction. CJIS information maintained by DELJIS on the mainframe is only replicated in DACS when system performance issues warrant. Corporate criminal justice data (data to be shared by all components of the criminal Justice system) resides on the State's mainframe.The DACS database is made up of over six hundred tables, access by over two hundred screens. It has the information on over twenty-five thousand offenders. The Oracle tools used for development are Designer and
Developer 2000.
DACS Security
The security profiles and the user accounts are maintained here. We have both user security (who has access) which is user ID and password-driven, along with user "profiles" which determine which screens the user can access as well as the level of access (read-only, data creation, data update). Information is maintained by DACS anytime data is created or updated, providing significant system auditing capabilities to ensure accountability and integrity.
Report Processing
All reports are processed on the DACS production server. Reports are returned to the users' screen requesting the report, and then can be saved in a variety of file formats or printed.
Batch Processing
Nightly refreshes of CJIS demographic information that changed on the mainframe since the last processing are updated via interfaces to the DACS server. Additionally, court schedules are retrieved from the mainframe through the interface. DACS processes this information and sends notifications automatically to the Level V and Level IV facility records offices for when offenders need to be sent to court.
Backup and Restore Functions
All backup processing and any restore of the DACS database occurs on this server.
