The State Information Transport Network (SITN), currently a system of disparate networks, provides voice and data communications to State government, law enforcement agencies, and educational institutions throughout the state. The SITN is built on industry-accepted standard equipment and utilizes current technology.
This enterprise network is one of Delaware's greatest information technology strengths and it continues to expand in both size and scope each year. Data networking is probably the most complex element of the State's enterprise networking environment, as data networking involves interfacing diverse applications and data located on different computing platforms.
As agencies look at data sharing and the re-engineering of applications and processes, the enterprise must be proactive in devising strategies for interfacing heterogeneous databases.
